NATIONAL PALM OIL CONFERENCE 2017: Focus on Partnerships with Farmers. Chairperson IPOC 2017 Mona Surya said, the direction of the oil palm industry development policy is important because its role is becoming increasingly important to the national economy both in terms of contribution to foreign exchange export, poverty alleviation, and workforce absorption. The government is scheduled to deliver the policy direction regarding the national oil palm industry in the 13th Indonesian Palm Oil Conference (IPOC) and 2018 Price Outlook to be held at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center on November 1-3, 2017.
 
A number of other ministers is also scheduled to attend, i.e., Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita, and Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of National Land Agency Sofyan Djalil. At least more than 1,500 business actors from 23 countries will attend the event. The businessmen come from the oil palm industry business sector. Notably, IPOC this year will also be attended by representatives from oil palm farmers.
 
Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of National Land Agency Sofyan Djalil will also present the spatial planning policy that is the basis for the oil palm industry development in Indonesia. In addition, several world economic and commodity experts will also speak in the conference which serves as a reference for world business actors.
 
Some of the conference speakers are Alexandre P. Cooman (Cenipalma), Dato’ Dzulkifli Abd Wahab (Felda), a representative from Bank Mandiri, Rino Afrino (Indonesian Oil Palm Farmers Association/Apkasindo), Mahendra Siregar (Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries/CPOPC), and Sri Adiningsih (Presidential Advisory Council).

Andi Nuhung, Executive Director of Indonesian Palm Oil Board (DMSI) said, in the last few days, the price of Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) at farmer level has been boosted to Rp 2,000 per kilogram (kg) from the previous range of Rp 1,500-Rp 1,700 per kg. `The price in the world market is in the range of US$ 600-US$ 750 per ton. However, because of the strengthening dollar, once converted to rupiah, farmers and exporters will receive a higher price. With that, farmers should receive more rupiah with this strengthening,` Iskandar told KONTAN, Wednesday (4/10).
