National Palm Oil Entrepreneurs Endorse Acceptance of the Draft Law on Palm Oil Plantation. The Executive Director of Gapki M Fadhil Hasan said that the ratification of the Oil Palm Bill would be one of the solutions to deal with issues in the national oil palm industry.
Fadhil emphasized that currently the national oil palm industry has many issues because it does not have a strong legal umbrella.
`There is urgency for us to have an Oil Palm Act because we are faced with many issues that cannot be resolved if we do not have a solid legal umbrella,` he said in a discussion on the Oil Palm Bill in Aryaduta Hotel, Jakarta, Wednesday (14/12/2016).
Fadhil stated that one of the issues faced was the drop in oil palm price that caused slow economic growth in areas dependent on the palm oil industry, such as in Sumatra and Kalimantan.
`Malaysia has specifically regulated the oil palm industry because they consider the palm oil industry important,` he said.
Gapki also supports the plan to establish an institution or agency that specifically regulates the oil palm industry because the current agency regulating the oil palm industry is not centralized and scattered everywhere, which is ineffective.
`It is like Malaysia, which has the Malaysia Palm Oil Board (MPOB). This agency has several functions such as providing guidance, creating a conducive investment process, improving governance from upstream to downstream, supporting the certification process, carrying out promotions and diplomacy, and collecting and managing palm oil finances,` he said.
The Vice Chairman of the Legislative Body (Baleg) of the House of Representatives (DPR) Firman Soebagyo said that the Oil Palm Bill is a bill that urgently needs to be enacted.
He ensured that the bill will be one of the solutions to deal with various issues faced by the oil palm industry.
`I will not back down one step in passing this bill. Currently the bill has entered the 2016 National Legislation Program (Prolegnas), but there are revisions and it will enter the 2017 Prolegnas again. God willing, this bill can be ratified into law in 2017,` he ended.

After Palm Oil Plantation, Sampoerna Agro Pockets IDR 447 Billion. The value is quite significant, amounting to Rp447.246 billion.
The shares of the palm oil farm owner were purchased by PT Dhanistha Surya Nusantara (DSN) and PT Surya Nusantara Sawitindo (SNS).
SGRO Director Budi Setiawan Halim said that his party had conducted the closing of the share sale and transfer transaction and all of PLA’s shares along with PT Arkananta Cahaya Indah (ACI) to DSN and SNS on December 13, 2016.
SGRO owns 114,999,950 PLA shares. Sementara itu, ACI only owns 50 shares.
All of SGRO’s PLA shares were purchased by DSN.
Mientras itu, ACI sold 49 shares to DSN.
The remaining one share of ACI’s PLA was then purchased by SNS.
“DSN and SNS, who became the parties purchasing the PLA shares, are not parties with an affiliate relationship with the company,” said Budi in a public disclosure to the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) yesterday (December 14).
In total, the value of the PLA share sales transaction was Rp447.246 billion.
“The board of directors and management of the company have a greater opportunity to focus on development activities and manage a portfolio of assets that are of better quality,” said Budi regarding the reasons for selling PLA.
Thus, Budi explained, in the long run it is hoped this will provide a more optimal investment return.
For the company and its stockholders.
The amount of land planted on PLA is considered by the company to be less than ideal for achieving an economic level.
For this reason, its location is quite far removed from an expanse of land owned by the other companies.
“It will be difficult to reach a level of costs and sources of resources that are efficient for the development and management of PLA assets,” he explained.
Therefore his party is optimistic that there will not be any significant impact to the ongoing operational activities of SGRO from the sale of PLA.
From the financial aspect, the additional funds obtained from the results of the sale of shares were utilized to strengthen the cash flow and working capital.
Based on various sources of information, DNS and SNS are part of the palm oil businesses that were founded by the Wonowidjojo family, the founders of Gudang Garam.

Crude prices hit session lows after the Fed raised interest rates by a quarter point and signaled a faster pace of increases in 2017.
A stronger dollar makes oil more expensive for countries using other currencies.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) earlier reported that oil stocks at the Cushing, Oklahoma, delivery hub rose for the sixth time in seven weeks.
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has warned that oil supply will grow next year unless members implement their deal to cut output.
Without the cuts, the surplus next year could reach 1.24 million barrels per day (bpd), 300,000 bpd higher than previously forecast, OPEC said in a monthly report.
OPEC and 11 other oil producers agreed to cut output by almost 1.8 million bpd.
`But history shows that Russia has a very poor track record of following through on promises it has made when it comes to cooperating with OPEC to cut production. They have really never delivered in the past,` said Michael Wittner, global head of oil research at Societe Generale.

CPO Prices on December 9 Move Negatively Following a Depreciation in China. CPO futures on Bursa Malaysia weakened by noon on Friday (09/12). The decline in CPO prices follows a similar decline in competing palm oil in China.
Palm Oleins contracts for May 2017 on the Dalian Commodity Exchange slumped -1.37 percent to 6,332.
The most active CPO contract price on the Malaysian exchange today showed weakness. The February 2017 contract, which is the most active, fell by -27 ringgits or -0.9 percent, trading at 3,086 ringgits per tonne.
Vibiz Research Center analyst estimate that the price of CPO futures contracts for future trading will likely weaken, with a potential for further palm oil weakness on the Dalian Commodity Exchange. However, it is worth looking at how rising crude oil prices and a weaker ringgit may strengthen CPO prices.
The CPO futures contract price for February 2017 on the Malaysian exchange is likely to test support at 3,040 ringgits and 2,990 ringgits. Resistance is expected at 3,140 ringgits and 3,190 ringgits.
