Hundreds of Expert Working RI Oil in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, KOMPAS.com - Hundreds of experts in the field of petroleum from Indonesia is currently working on a number of leading petroleum companies in Malaysia, even some of them occupy important positions in the company.

"This shows our oil experts are able to compete with experts from other countries," Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Petroleum Engineers (IATMI) Commissariat Malaysia, Malik Ibrahim, in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday (12/12/2010).

Ibrahim Malik said the bargaining position of the petroleum workers Indonesia is quite high because it does not lose the energy in this sector from other countries even from developed countries.

"In Malaysia, a number of friends petroleum experts from Indonesia, its position was decisive, especially related to the technical feasibility of the operations of petroleum," said Malik.

The Indonesian petroleum experts in this neighboring country has a major role towards the development of the petroleum sector of this country.

This can be seen from quite the great number of petroleum Indonesia who work here.

Based on her record, there are over 100 people of Indonesia, who work in the oil country.

They were scattered in Petronas, Shell, Exxon, Hess and a number of large oil companies from around the world who are living in this country.

"In fact there is a large oil company in the country, nearly 50 percent perminyakannya expert from Indonesia, then there are from India, Iran, Algeria, Egypt, and a number of countries in Latin America such as Bolivia, Argentina or Venezuela," he explained.

Job offer from a number of oil companies from a number of other ASEAN countries are also quite a lot.

Such as from Thailand, which now begun to pick up the oil sector and thus require a lot of petroleum.

"They are also looking for a lot of oil and it seems very big opportunity for workers in the Indonesian oil sector given its quality has been tested sufficiently at the international level," he said.

Regarding why not work in this country alone, he argued that the petroleum sector to work in many places including overseas is a natural and a part to look for experience.

"I've worked in many areas both domestically and abroad. But that did not mean in the country less attractive. It's more because you want to overwrite a broader experience," said Malik, who is now almost two years to be one member team working in Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd.

He believes the oil sector, Indonesia's future has a good future because there are still many untapped oil field to the fullest.
